Pre Surgical Instructions

Instruction to follow Before Surgery

• You must get all required investigations ( Blood reports , USG , ECG , X ray ) as advised by doctor prior to surgery and Inform reports to clinic well in advance before surgery.
• Do not consume alcohol 24 hours prior to surgery. Refrain from smoking 2 weeks prior to surgery. These substances can cause adverse reactions to anesthesia and medication.
• Please let us know if you have a cardiac pacemaker, defibrillator, prosthetic valve or have had heart surgery.
• Please inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking and clarify as to what can and cannot be taken prior to the surgery.
• Tell us if you are allergic to anything and bring allergy report.
• Please inform your doctor if you are on any blood thinner medication, such as Coumadin, Aspirin , Xarelto or any other. You should discontinue aspirin containing medications 7 days prior to your surgery after consulting your physician.
• Please stop taking anti-inflammatory medicines such as Ibuprofen, diclofenac etc at least seven days prior to the surgery.

Depending upon your current health and medical history, you may be required to obtain a preoperative clearance by your primary care physician within 30 days of your surgery. This may be required if you have one of the following conditions:

• Over the age of 65.
• Heart, Lung, Liver or Neurologic Condition.
• Diabetes, hypertension or any other chronic illness.
• Personal or Family History of Blot Clots or Blood Clotting Disorders.
• History of Complications under Anesthesia.
• History of MRSA infection.

Instruction for day of Surgery

• Avoid eating or drinking anything from 8 hours before time of surgery. This includes no water, coffee, mints or gum. You may brush your teeth before surgery.
• If you are advised to take any medicines (like Anti-Hypertensive or Thyroid medicines ) before surgery it should be taken only with sips of water.
• Skip medicines as advised by doctor ( like oral medicines for diabetes )
• Any recent health changes should be immediately reported to your surgeon even if the changes seem minor (ie, fever, cough, rash, cold, etc).
• Bring all MEDICATIONs, ALLERGY REPORTs , insurance card and IDENTITY CARD with you the day of surgery.
• Bathe or shower the morning of surgery to minimize the risk of infection. Trim your nails. Do not shave body hairs.
• Remove all make-up , body piercings , contact lenses , dentures and nail polish before arrival
• Leave jewelry and valuables at home.
• Wear loose comfortable clothing and low-heeled shoes.
• Arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home in four wheeler and stay with you for at least 24 hours following surgery.
• Pediatric patients should have 2 adults available to take them home - one adult to drive and the other to attend to the recovering child. Patient less than 18 years completed will need consent from parent before any procedure.
• You need to finish Payment formalities before surgery. You can do payment by Cash, Card, Internet Banking, Gpay. If you like to pay by cheque you need to give cheque atleast 2 days in advance. ( cheque needs to get cleared by the date of surgery )
• Reach at least one hour before surgery time.
